Tournament Format
A mandatory manager’s meeting will be held the week leading up to the tournament. Coaches shall provide the completed liability wavier and completed team roster prior to or at the meeting (see attachments). All teams must be paid in full prior to the meeting.
Each team will play a minimum of 3 games. Games on Saturday will be for seeding purposes, and Sunday will be a winner/loser bracket style format depending on the number of teams.
Ground Rules
Games will be played on 46/60 fields.
4 coaches (including scorekeeper) are permitted on the field or in dugouts. Parents/fans are not permitted in dugouts or fields unless in an emergency.
A 30’ arc will be placed extending from the mid-point of the first base baseline to the mid-point of the third baseline. Batted balls that do not pass this line are considered foul.
2 umpires will be at each game (as available).
Basepaths are considered 4’ wide. It is the umpires’ discretion to call a baserunner “out of the basepath” resulting in the baserunner being “out”.
If a batted ball hits the coach pitching, it is considered foul, and the pitch is counted.
If a batted ball makes contact with a baserunner in the basepath, the baserunner is “out” and play is stopped.
If a batted ball makes contact with another coach (field coach or first/third base coach) or umpire, the play is stopped.
Each team shall keep score (electronically and/or paper) and provide batting lineups. It is highly encouraged for scorekeepers to confirm the score and revolve issues after each inning.
Final score will be recorded by the umpires to tournament staff.
Equipment Rules
All bats must have USA Baseball stamp.
T-ball bats are not permitted.
Catchers must be in full catcher’s gear.
Game balls will be provided by umpires.
Player Rosters
Players must be 7 years old (or younger) on April 30, 2025. Coaches must maintain documentation of players ages.
Roster size is unlimited however all rostered players must be included in the batting order.
Offensive Rules
The tournament is 100% coach pitch. Coaches must pitch from behind the “foul/fair” arc.
All players on the roster must be included in the batting order.
Each batter will receive 8 pitches to put the ball in play (no strikes or balls). On the 8th pitch, it becomes a “two strike” count. A foul ball on the 8th pitch will allow for another pitch until the batter puts a ball in play or does not make contact with the pitch leading to a “strike out”.
Ground rule doubles are awarded if a fair batted ball becomes stuck in a fence or leaves the field of play (umpires’ discretion) prior to a defensive player securing the ball.
Baserunners may not lead, steal, or leave the base prior to a ball in play.
The inning ends when either the defense makes 3 outs or the offense scores 5 runs (or do we want to keep 8 batters, I think run count avoids the unnecessary wild baserunning). The final inning is considered unlimited runs or until the offense bats their entire lineup or 3 defensive outs made.
Baserunner/fielder interference – Will be determined at the umpires’ discretion however good faith efforts must be made by all players to avoid unnecessary contact. Defensive players shall not block bases.
If contact is initiated/at fault of the baserunner, he/she will be called out.
If contact is initiated/at fault of the fielder, play is stopped and the baserunners are awarded the base in which they are traveling.
Defensive Rules
1 coach is allowed to be in the field with their team defensively.
A total of 10 players may play the field which include 4 outfielders, pitcher, and catcher (in gear).
Outfielders must begin the play in the outfield grass.
The play is stopped when any of the following occur:
Umpires’ discretion
The defensive pitcher maintains control of the ball at/near the pitching rubber (umpires’ discretion)
Ball makes contact with a coach (fielding or base coach) or umpire as previously described
Ball leaves the field of play due to defensive efforts (ex. thrown ball leaves the field of play). This includes balls entering dugouts or going over/under fencing.
When the play is stopped, any baserunners that do not successfully advance to the next base will be returned to the prior base at the umpires’ discretion.
Weather
While we do not control the weather, every effort will be made to play games at the scheduled time/place.
Refunds of 50% will be provided if a team is only able to successfully complete 1 game due to weather. No other refunds are provided.
LET’S REMEMBER THAT WE ARE ALL VOLUNTEERS AND THESE ARE 7 YEAR OLDS PLAYING BASEBALL. SPORTSMANSHIP AND POSITIVITY SHALL BE MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES.
